Paris Photo 2012 I Overview.

Paris Photo 2012 overview.

This year the annual festival was held in the Grand Palais from November 14 to November 18. The event brought together 128 galleries from all around the world representing a total of 151 artists ranging from old classic masters to new talents.
In addition to the gallery exhibitions, the festival also offered a wide range of parallel events for the visitors and artists.

- 4 days of conferences directed by , Curator of Photography at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, with the special contribution of Paul Holdengräber, Director of "LIVE from The New York Public Library."

-Paris-Photo-Aperture Foundation Photobook awards exhibited shortlist selections of "Photobook of the year" and "First Photobook" categories. First Photobook award was given to artist David Galjaard for his self-published work CONCRESCO. Photobook of the year was awarded to Anders Petersen’s City Diary (Steidl).

The festival reserved a special place for a retrospective on the work of noted German photographers’ Bernd and Hilla Becher, whose influence remains as current as ever in today’s photo-art market.

-Post-noire film maker David Lynch was entrusted with the festival´s first ever "Paris Photo vu par..." Lynch chose 100 works of art from among the galleries, tracing and original and new way to approach the exhibition and to bring the viewers closer to his own esthetic universe.
A catalogue-portfolio with the selected work was edited and is available for purchase in the Paris-Photo online shop.
